E-mail and Electronic Communications

Overview

ITS Provides:

• Individual e-mail accounts for Washburn faculty, staff, students and selected affiliates.
• Access to e-mail via a secure web interface or via secure IMAP clients
• Special-purpose e-mail accounts for departments and functional areas for communicating with the public or select groups.  Note that these may need administrative approval.
• E-mail aliases that allow special customer @washburn.edu e-mail addresses to forward to alternate accounts.  Note that these also may need administrative approval.
• E-mail Listserv’s that units may use for distributing e-mail communication to subscribed addresses
• Spam filtering for incoming and outgoing e-mail
• Virus and malware protection on incoming and outgoing e-mail
• Internally managed and supported online chat based services based on the Jabber XMPP protocol

Washburn e-mail accounts are subject to Washburn’s Acceptable Use Policy and other policies referenced in the Washburn University Policies, Regulations, and Procedures Manual (WUPRPM).
