Artist, Albert Bloch
Born in St. Louis in 1882, Albert Bloch spent his formative years as an artist in Germany where he was associated with Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, and their Blaue Reiter (Blue Rider) group of German Expressionist artists. Returning to the U.S. in 1921, in 1923 he joined the art faculty at the University of Kansas, from which he retired in 1947. Throughout his life, Bloch painted religious subjects, especially scenes from the Life of Christ, a selection of which will be shown in this exhibition.
