Individuals with disabilities wishing to take the COMPASS should contact the Washburn University Coordinator of Testing to request testing accommodation.
Requests, with current documentation, should be submitted six weeks prior to the planned test date. Later requests will be considered if staff and facility resources are available.
The documentation, on official letterhead, must be from medical or other appropriate professionals and include the name, title, and professional credentials of the evaluator, including information about license or certification (e.g., licensed psychologist) as well as the area of specialization, employment, and state in which the individual practices.
The documentation must be current (within 3-5 years) and include a description of the disability, how it affects the student’s academic performance, test taking in particular, and suggested accommodations
The Washburn Director of Student Services will review the documentation and recommend what accommodation(s) to provide for the COMPASS. It will be the responsibility of the Coordinator of Testing to implement the recommendation. Should the student disagree with the recommendation for accommodations, he/she may appeal in writing to the Coordinator of Testing who will convene a committee to include the University Equal Opportunity Officer to review the recommendation. The determination of the Committee will be final.
