Credit by Exam: DSST (DANTES)

The DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST) credit by exam program gives individuals the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside of the traditional college classroom.

How to Register: 

Schedule an appointment for an exam by contacting the Center for Prior Learning and Testing at testing@washburn.edu or 785-670-1227

Cost:

$80 plus $25 administration fee = $105 total
Note – Eligible military service members or eligible spouses are funded by DANTES and are not required to pay the testing fee, see DANTES Funding Guide

Items to Bring: 

  • Current government-issued identification that includes your photo and signature
  • Payment for exam

Note - 2 forms of ID are required for military/veteran students including a military ID.
Individuals may not test without appropriate identification.

Format of the exam: 

Computerized, 1 ½ - 2 hours in length
Note – Some exams may include an essay, which is written by paper/pencil
