What is Allied Health?

Allied Health is a broad field of study encompassing diverse health care professions, including clinical laboratory personnel, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dietetic services, medical record personnel, radiologic services, speech-language pathology and audiology and respiratory therapy.  It does not include physicians, nurses, dentists, or podiatrists. SOURCE:  Encyclopedia & Dictionary of Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health, 5th Edition; Miller and Keane.

Since 1982 the allied health department has offered degree and certificate programs that prepare students for careers in health care.
