Sarah HansenSarah Hansen has over 10 years of experience in the field of addiction services-crossing multiple arenas including direct service delivery, program oversight, policy development and association management.
Since the start of her professional career, Sarah has worked as an addictions counselor, a mental health therapist, a policy maker for the State of Kansas single state authority on substance abuse treatment and prevention and as an outcomes manager for the State of Kansas Department of Mental Health. In addition, Ms. Hansen has served as the Executive Director of a mid-size residential substance use disorder treatment center in Kansas. In 2010 Sarah was appointed as the Executive Director of the Kansas Association of Addiction Professionals after being an active member of the association as a volunteer leader for three years. During tenure with the association, Sarah worked with other key stakeholders to advance addiction counselor licensure as well as numerous other legislative initiatives.
Sarah earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's degree in Counselor Education from Emporia State University. She continues her passion for education and mentorship in her ongoing role as adjunct professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. In addition, Ms. Hansen works full time as the Chief Operations Officer of the State Associations of Addiction Services in Washington, DC.
