If your job involves helping or providing services to others during difficult or traumatic situations, you may be at risk for Compassion Fatigue. Also known as Vicarious or Secondary Trauma, Compassion Fatigue affects doctors, nurses, therapists, clergy, teachers, interpreters, hairdressers, and anyone who has frequent interaction with those who are struggling to cope with emotional, physical, or mental distress. We can begin to be affected by the trauma as if it were our own, and it can lead to serious burnout. This video offers ideas to help.
