Career Opportunities

The art department strives to provide students with the knowledge and skills to pursue jobs in the visual arts. We also provide internships to give students practical experience in a variety of areas.

Jobs in Visual Arts:

  • Teaching: P-12, public, private, community colleges, art camps, art centers, museums, cruise lines, YMCA’S, V.A. centers, parks departments, hospitals, colleges and universities, fine arts schools
  • Courtroom and Forensic Art (TV stations, police departments)
  • Religious and Liturgical Art (Various ceremonial objects for private or church use, such as paintings, stained glass, baptismal founts, robes, communion ware, sculptures, memorials, crematory urns, etc.)
  • Museum Work: art conservation, exhibit preparation, research/writing, administration, curator, education, art appraiser
  • Medical/Scientific Illustration
  • Book Illustration
  • Graphic Arts: advertising, web design, animation, video creation and editing, packaging design, art director, calligraphy, comic books, graphic novels
  • Photography: freelance photographer, magazine photographer, photojournalist, portraits, products, weddings, technician, assistant
  • Art Periodicals and Online Publications : writing, photography, production, critic, photojournalist
  • Sales or Direct Marketing of Fine Art/Crafts:  ceramics, glass, fiber, wood, metal, photography, painting/drawing/prints
