Undergraduate Programs

Students seeking the A.A. in Early Childhood Education degree should complete an online Declaration of Major form during the first semester of enrollment at Washburn University. (Find the form in MyWashburn, Student tab, then Academic Advising.) Early Childhood associate students will be assigned an advisor from the Department of Education faulty.   

Students seeking a BED in Elementary Education degree should complete the online Declaration of Major form as soon as they decide to pursue a teaching program on mywashburn.edu.  Elementary level licensure only students (those with a completed baccalaureate degree) should complete the online Declaration of Teacher Licensure form on mywashubrn.edu. Elementary education students will be assigned an academic advisor from the Department of Education faculty once the declaration has been processed.

Students pursuing a teacher education program at either the P-12 or secondary (6-12) levels should complete the online Declaration of Major form on mywashburn.edu. P-12 and secondary level licensure only students (those with a completed baccalaureate degree) should complete the online Declaration of Teacher Licensure form on mywashburn.edu.

Degree seeking and licensure only secondary and P-12 level students will be assigned two academic advisors. The content/major academic advisor will be the primary advisor and the advisor from Department of Education will assist with advising for education courses.

All students should meet with an advisor each semester to complete and update a program plan.
