The English Education program at Washburn University prepares teacher candidates to teach English/language arts in grades 6-12. Candidates earn initial certification to teach in the state of Kansas. Through a variety of English courses, education courses, field experiences in secondary schools, and a full-semester of student teaching, Washburn’s teacher candidates are well-prepared for instructing secondary students in writing, reading, speaking, viewing, and listening.
