Piano Competition
Awards:
- The winner will receive an annual music scholarship of $5,000, renewable up to four years
- Runner-ups will receive an annual music scholarships of $3,000 to $1,000, renewable up to four years
Eligibility
- Any student intending to major in piano at Washburn University during the academic year 2014-2015.
- Contestants must not be older than 20 years old on November 16, 2013
- Applications must be postmarked no later than October 18, 2013
Repertoire Requirements
A recital of 25 minutes, four memorized work representative of four of the following categories are required:
- Baroque: equivalent in difficulty to a Bach Prelude and Fugue
- Classical: equivalent in difficulty to a movement of Beethoven or Mozart Sonata
- Romantic: equivalent in difficulty to a Chopin Etude or Nocturne
- 20th-21st Century: equivalent in difficulty to a Debussy Prelude
- Other: any piece at contestant’s choice
Competition Dates:
The Competition will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in White Concert Hall, Washburn University, Topeka, KS
