Student Learning Outcomes

Undergraduate

Upon completion of the program students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding representing appropriate breadth and depth in the major content areas of psychology.
  2. Use critical and creative thinking, skeptical inquiry and, when possible, the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes.
  3. Clearly articulate and explain the application of the peer-reviewed literature to a specific issue or situation.
  4. Apply basic research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis and interpretation.
  5. Recognize the necessity for ethical behavior in all aspects of the science and practice of psychology.

Graduate

Upon completion of the program students will be able to:

  1. Clearly articulate the application of the peer-reviewed literature to a specific issue or situation relevant to psychology.
  2. Evaluate, administer, and interpret psychological assessments.
  3. Understand empirically-based therapy techniques and recognize the importance of individual client characteristics and contextual factors in their implementation.
  4. Engage in ethical practice, utilize supervision and consultation appropriately, and carry out responsibilities professionally.
