Current Events

The Washburn University Sociology and Anthropology Club will be hosting a special topics night on Tuesday, November 18th, at 7:00 pm in Henderson 203. The topic will be Directed Research, WTE, and Graduate Program Vita Building. Patrick Barry, a senior in the department, will be presenting on how to construct an independent study through the department with a faculty mentor, additional academic opportunities available to student researchers, and using this to help prepare for graduate school application processes. After the initial presentation, Patrick will present his independent study in Art Sociology and open the floor for anthropological and sociological explorations of art in a variety of mediums. The presentation will be especially geared toward theory, methods, and methodology. This event is free and open to the public.

SO/AN Club

The purpose of this organization shall be:

  1.  To promote cultural education and academic pursuits related to sociology and anthropology at Washburn University between students, faculty, and the community.
  2.  To facilitate additional activities to prepare members for graduate programs.
  3.  To provide an outlet for students to engage with the community.
  4.  To allow students to enter into a society of peers with a mutual appreciation of  sociology and anthropology.
