  • Students are encouraged to participate in local community theatreAd Astra Theatre, a homegrown theatre ensemble; Topeka Civic Theatre; Helen Hocker Center for the Performing Arts;  The Break Room;  KCACTF, (Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) Region 5  http://www.kcactf5.org/KCACTF5.ORG/Home.html    KCACTF is a national organization that recognizes and celebrates the achievements of collegiate theatre students. Washburn Theatre Department has a tradition of attending and participating in Region 5 Festivals.
  •  ApeironApeiron is  a Forum of Student Research, Scholarship, and Creativity.  
  •  The Washburn Transformational Experience is a program that was created in order to provide Washburn University students with amazing opportunities and experiences. The main objective of the WTE program is to transform students into a new kind of individual (e.g., more worldly, more knowledgeable). Students will be able to accomplish goals and experience opportunities they never dreamed possible. The WTE goes beyond the everyday classroom experience by allowing students to choose and create projects that reflect their interests. Each student is responsible for making their WTE experience as great and amazing as they want it to be.   WTE, (Washburn Transformational Experience) 
  • Theatre students have several opportunities to study abroad through international programs
  • V Day  VDay is an international movement to stop violence against women and children. Theatre students regularly produce the Vagina Monologues, raising funds to support the local YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment.
