BBA Degree with Emphasis in Economics
The economics curriculum is designed to
provide the student with an understanding of the principles and institutions
governing economic decisions made by households, businesses, and governments.
This type of knowledge, combined with studies in related areas, provides an
appropriate background for employment in financial and non-financial business
firms and governmental agencies. It also provides a solid basis for graduate
study in economics, business and public administration, urban planning and
international studies. Economics is also one of the best pre-law options for
students.
In
this program you will learn to:
- Find facts and interpret them
consistent with economic thinking;
- Demonstrate an understanding of
how decision makers allocate scarce resources to achieve economic
efficiency;
- Apply economic tools to analyze
decisions made by consumers, firms and policy makers; and
- Use economic models to analyze the
impact of various fiscal, monetary and trade policies on a nation’s
economy.
The
following courses are required for the economics concentration:
- EC300 Microeconomic Theory
- EC301
Macroeconomic Theory
- Six
additional upper division economics hours
- Twelve
additional upper division elective hours in accounting, business, or economics
