Intensive English Program (IEP)

Intensive English Program Mission Statement: The mission of the Intensive English Program (IEP) is to offer leveled English language courses to prepare international students and other non-native English speakers for success in degree programs at the university and other academic and community settings.  The IEP is committed to supporting the university’s values of academic excellence and cross-cultural understanding .

Academic Calendar for 2017-2018

  • Fall 2017: Courses begin August 21st and end December 15th
  • English Proficiency Test - August 18, 2017 in Henderson 100 at 9:00 a.m.  Contact kelly.mcclendon@washburn.edu to register and reserve a seat.
  • Spring 2018: Courses begin January 16th and end May 11th
  • Summer 2018:
    • Late Session - July 2 to August 2

Tuition for 2017-2018

  • Out-of-state residents and international students: $7,632 USD for 12 credit hours per semester, which is 18 hours in the classroom per week.
  • In-state residents: $1,124 USD for each 4-credit course per semester.

FREE COMMUNITY ESL CLASSES & TUTORING

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm - 3pm and 3pm - 5pm during Fall and Spring semesters. Classes begin early September. These classes are sponsored by the International Center of Topeka, Inc.(ICT) and are not accredited under Washburn's IEP.
