Individual Leadership
Fall 2009
Senior Morgan Schaeffer partnered with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid America Chapter - Eastern Kansas Branch to develop and implement communications plans for the MS Society's primary events: Bike MS in September and Walk MS in April. Morgan coordinated communication with participants, volunteers, donors, and sponsors for each event, as well as developed a media list and cultivated communication with media in eastern Kansas. Morgan also developed relevant content to create a Facebook page, Twitter account, and explored the benefits of other social media outlets. Morgan felt her internship went above and beyond a Public Relations experience in the non-profit sector and shared that it was truly an opportunity to "affect change in an organization that affects change throughout the community and in thousands of individuals with multiple sclerosis."
Team Leadership
Fall 2011
Fall 2009
As part of a group change project in LE 300 in the Fall of 2009, three students worked as a team in partnering with the MS Society to focus on its Public Awareness initiative. Specifically, the MS Society sought a variety of cost effective activities during MS Awareness Week to reach a large service area and target markets: clients, volunteers, and participants. The students established a clear strategy of development, implementation, and promotion of such events utilizing community resources and organization volunteers. Student Team Members: Lauren Eckert, Lisa Ille, and Nicole Stejskal.
