WULI and UNO Students at 2014 Leadership Exchange

Leadership Exchange

The Leadership Exchange is a four-day experience where Leadership Institute students have the opportunity to travel to a distinct part of the country and interact with other college students sharing an interest in and passion for leadership.

Leadership Institute students travel to New Orleans, where they attend and co-facilitate sessions at the Spring Leadership Conference with student leaders from the University of New Orleans, as well as share thoughts, perspectives, and experiences about leadership with this group of young leaders from a unique part of the country.

The program is designed to initiate an open dialogue about key issues affecting young leaders today and is also geared toward challenging students to expand their global mindset beyond their home institution, drawing both parallels and distinctions between leadership in Topeka, Kansas and New Orleans, Louisiana.  The Leadership Exchange contains cultural dimensions, including a discovery of New Orleans' vivid history, an exploration of the city's distinct historical and artistic influences, and a special educational component about leadership in response to Hurricane Katrina and leadership required in one of New Orleans' unique charter school systems.
