Agenda Item No. VI. A. 3. d.

Washburn University Board of Regents

SUBJECT: Purchase of Sleeping Room Furniture for Transitional Housing

DESCRIPTION:

In November of 2000, the Board of Regents approved a contract for the purchase of sleeping room furniture for the Living Learning Center and Kuehne and West Halls. This followed a competitive bidding process and evaluation of seven bids. Southwest Contract was awarded the contract for desks with carrels, dressers, and chairs. The furniture has been well received and there have been no problems regarding replacement of items or components due to quality or usage.

Southwest Contract has submitted a quotation for the same furniture items at the same unit pricing as the previously awarded contract. Sleeping room furniture would be uniform throughout all residence halls and purchased at the same unit pricing of the original award of contract.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

Total $162,802.00

Funding is available from Transitional Housing Project 900300-000000-723700-21000.

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends approval to award a contract to Southwest Contract of Temple, TX, for the purchase of sleeping room furniture in the sum of $162,802.
