SUBJECT: Revisions to Classified Compensation Schedule
Each year the University Director of Human Resources reviews the University's compensation schedule for wage and hour employees and compares it with the state of Kansas wages, to determine whether adjustments should be made to the University's compensation schedule.
The Director of Human Resources has completed the review and recommends a 3% increase in the entry wages as shown on the attached sheet. The schedule proposed includes only classifications outside the bargaining unit represented by the United Steelworkers, whose wage rates are negotiated in accordance with the Public Employer-Employee Relations Act. The Classified Compensation schedule will become effective July 1, 2005, for fiscal year 2006.
Proposed changes include the elimination of classifications no longer in use, and addition of a new classification:
Baker Salary Range $8.44 $11.91
Cook I Salary Range $8.44 $11.91
Cook II Salary Range $9.30 $13.11
Data Equipment Operator I Salary Range $8.44 $11.91
Data Equipment Operator II Salary Range $9.30 $13.11
User Support Assistant Salary Range $8.69 $13.04
There are approximately 60 employees currently making less than the proposed new entry rates. Assuming no other salary increases are given, it would take approximately $24,000 to increase their annual salaries to the new rates.
President Farley recommends approval of the revisions to the 2005-2006 Classified Compensation Schedule.
