SUBJECT: ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY

DESCRIPTION:

The School of Applied Studies proposes an Associate of Science Degree in Surgical Technology in cooperation with the Kaw Area Technical School. KATS has an accredited Surgical Technology program. Washburn would partner with them to offer the general education courses to those students who wish to pursue an Associate Degree. The complete proposal is attached.

The University Council approved the proposal on December 9, 2003.

The General Faculty approved the proposal on January 29, 2004.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

No additional expenditures for support services, laboratory space or courses are anticipated.

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends Board of Regents approval of the Associate of Science Degree in Surgical Technology.
