Permission to designate Dr. Thomas Wolf Professor Emeritus and Dr. Betty Cole as Associate Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Wolf has served Washburn University since 1971. His contributions include developing courses on Evolution, the Human Impact on the Environment, General Genetics, Human Genetics, Immunology. He also served as Chair of the Biology Department during his tenure. Dr. Wolf's research focused on the inheritance and function of fluorescent markings on the fruit fly, Drosophila. He formed a Drosophila Research Group but is perhaps best known for fostering student research and taking students to Regional, National and International Conferences so that they could present their work.
Dr. Betty Cole arrived at Washburn University in 1979. She has taught numerous courses such as, Introduction to Biology, Introduction to Microbiology, General Microbiology, and Microbiology of Human Disease. She made significant contributions to the Medical Technology program (now known as Clinical Laboratory Sciences) and has also served as Chair of the Biology Department during her tenure. In addition, she served as Interim director of Mabee Library and numerous committees both on and off campus.
President Farley recommends Dr Thomas Wolf as Professor Emeritus and Dr. Betty Cole as Associate Professor Emeritus.
