Washburn University Board of Regents
SUBJECT: Mobile Shelving System for the School of Law Library
The School of Law Library is requesting approval to purchase a high-density mobile storage shelving system for installation in the library's closed stack area on the ground level. The purchase is necessary to permit storage of less frequently used items to ease crowding in the periodicals section on the fourth level and to permit urgently needed offices for the law school to be constructed on part of the library's third level. The 1992 library addition contemplated eventual installation of compact shelving in the designated area and the space needs are now pressing. The purchase will be made utilizing a State of Kansas contract for library shelving, which was competitively bid by the Division of Purchases and awarded to Spacesaver Storage Systems, Inc./Automated Business Systems. Political subdivisions are permitted to utilize contracts administered by the Division of Purchases. The total amount of the purchase is $58,384.02.
Funding will be available from the Law School general fund for furnishings and equipment.
President Farley recommends approval to award a contract to Automated Business Systems for $58,384.02.
