SUBJECT: MASTER OF EDUCATION - CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION - LITERACY EMPHASIS
The Curriculum and Instruction program with an emphasis in Literacy is designed for educators interested in gaining knowledge and skills about literacy to enrich classroom teaching and learning. Students pursuing this program may select between two tracks: Literacy or Literacy for National Board Certification. Students selecting the second track would work toward National Board Certification concurrently with an M.Ed. in Literacy.
The M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction - Literacy emphasis replaces the M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in Language Arts. The Literacy emphasis is also designed as an alternative to the M.Ed. in Reading with licensure as a Reading Specialist.
The change in program is in keeping with current literature in the field.
The complete proposal is attached.
