Agenda Item No. V. B. 2.

Washburn University Board of Regents

SUBJECT: Morgan Roof Replacement - Project #0331

DESCRIPTION: Morgan Hall was constructed in two different time periods, the original building in 1953 and an addition in 1966. A complete new roofing system, utilizing more energy efficient and durable materials, was designed for the building. This system is more costly than the roofing replacement originally estimated. As a result, the bid to re-roof Morgan is more than the amount previously allocated. Therefore, we will replace only the roof over the older building section. The remaining section will be included in the Capital Improvement Requests for FY 04 for FY 05 expenditure.

Bids were received for the Morgan Hall roof replacement; the low bid was $238,950.00. The Capital Improvement funds of $110,000 were budgeted in FY 2003 to do this project.

Bidder Bid

Guilfoyle Roofing $238,950.00

Diamond-Everley Roofing $297,150.00

Danker Roofing $331,114.00

Vincent Roofing $343,900.00

An expenditure of $120,000.00 from the FY 02-03 Capital Improvement account, to be funded by $110,000 capital improvement allocation and $10,000 from year-end savings.

President Farley recommends the Board of Regents approve award of contract to Guilfoyle Roofing to replace the roof over approximately half of Morgan Hall.
