SUBJECT: Capital Projects from Year-End Allocations



DESCRIPTION:



Each year in May, the Board approves the lists of proposed capital maintenance, other equipment, and electronic technology equipment from the Debt Retirement and Construction (DR&C) Fund. This year's lists were approved by the Board of Regents at its May 13, 2005 meeting.



The list of projects from the Electronic Technology Committee was funded at the $400,000 level, pending analysis of year-end funds. There are sufficient funds available to increase the funding level to ETC projects from $400,000 to $600,000. Attached is the ETC schedule reflecting the projects to be funded at the $600,000 level.



In addition to the increased funding for ETC projects, funds are also available to complete the funding necessary for the Department of Physics and Astronomy to purchase the digital planetarium display system for the Planetarium and Observatory. The total funding required s $150,000 to be funded as follows: Department of Physics and Astronomy restricted funds available, $71,000; College of Arts and Sciences restricted funds available, $20,000; and University year-end allocation, $59,000.



FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:



The use of $259,000 available from FY 05 one-time allocations.



RECOMMENDATION:



President Farley recommends approval of the additional funding for ETC projects of $200,000 as detailed in the attachment and the allocation of $59,000 to Physics and Astronomy.
