SUBJECT: Classroom Renovation - Project #M05007



DESCRIPTION: The existing classrooms are out of date, and need to be renovated to improve the appearance and functionality. This renovation project in Henderson, Morgan & Petro Halls will include new VCT floor, light fixtures, ceiling, paint, carpet / base and marker boards.



Bids were received for the classroom renovation from two general contractors and were priced out by classroom. Work will be awarded to the two contractors, based on the low bid for each classroom. This work is to be completed in two phases - Phase One to be completed by July 12, 2005, and Phase Two to be completed in December, 2005.



Capital Improvement Funds of $360,000 were budgeted in the FY 2004-2005 to do this project.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:



An expenditure of $140,965, from the FY 2004-2005 Capital Improvement Account.





RECOMMENDATION:



President Farley recommends the Board of Regents to approve award of contracts to Florence Construction in the amount of $54,567 and Kendall Construction in the amount of $86,398 for the renovation of classrooms.
