SUBJECT: High Definition Videotape Machines for KTWU
KTWU is requesting approval to purchase high definition videotape machines. The high definition videotape machines are necessary for KTWU to complete Phase II of the digital television conversion. The high definition videotape machines will be competitively bid in accordance with University procedures. A quantity of four, high definition videotape machines are required. The units will provide KTWU the capability of recording and playing program content in the digital domain.It is estimated the total amount of the high definition videotape machines will not exceed $146,000.
Funding for the high definition videotape machines will be from the following:
State of Kansas DTV Bonds 50% of purchase price.
Department of Commerce Public Telecommunications Facilities Program 40% of purchase price.
Note: These funds are negotiated to be expended by September 30, 2004.
Funds from the KTWU Digital Capital Campaign fundraising 10% of purchase price.
President Farley recommends the Board of Regents authorize the administration to proceed with bidding the equipment.
