Agenda Item No. VI. A. 6.

Washburn University Board of Regents

SUBJECT: REVISION TO B.A. IN HPEES

Description:

The Department of Health, Physical Education and Exercise Science proposes removing PE 271, First Aid, from the list of core requirements for the B.A. degrees. The core curriculum includes principal subdisciplines that contribute unique theoretical approaches to the student of health and human movement. First Aid does not meet this test. However, the department values its content and is therefore providing for it in a different manner. PE 271 will become a prerequisite for PE 494/495, Internship. All B.A. concentrations currently require the internship.

The General Faculty approved the proposal on May 4, 2006.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends Board of Regents approval of the revision to the B.A. in HPEES.
