SUBJECT: REVISION OF THE BIOLOGY MINOR

Description:

The Department of Biology proposes the revision of the Minor in Biology.

Current Requirements:

BI 102, General Cellular Biology

BI 105, General Biology

BI 110, General Zoology

BI 301, General Microbiology

BI 333, General Genetics

Total: 21 hours

Proposed Requirement:

BI 102, General Cellular Biology

BI 105, General Botany and/or

BI 110, General Zoology

Total: 20 hours minimum - at least 8 of the remaining hours must be 300 level or higher.

The proposal also specifies that to minor in Biology a student must apply to the department and be assigned a Biology advisor.

The General Faculty approved the proposal on May 4, 2006.

President Farley recommends Board of Regents approval of the proposal for the revision of the Biology Minor.
