Washburn University Board of Regents
SUBJECT: Classroom Renovation - Project #M06002
DESCRIPTION: The existing classrooms are out of date and need to be renovated to improve the appearance and functionality. As part of the 2005/2006 Board approved Budget, the Board approved additional funds for Classroom Renovation. This portion of the funds is to replace the Fan Coil Units in 20 general classrooms throughout Morgan. Replacement will help with classroom comfort and reduce noise generated by the current outdated units.
Proposals were received from McElroy's Mechanical Contractor, Lower Heating & Air Conditioning & Samco Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning to furnish and install UniTrane vertical units in the classrooms. The prices per unit installed are listed below, with 26 units scheduled to be replaced. Work will be completed over the Fall Semester while the rooms are free.
McElroys Mechanical Contractor - 26 units @ $3,861.00 each = $100,386.00
Lower Heating & Air Conditioning - 26 units @ $3,801.33 each = $98,834.58
Samco Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning - 26 units @ $3,816.00 each = $99,216.00
An expenditure of $98,834.58, from the FY 2005-2006 Capital Improvement account.
