Agenda Item No. V. B. 5.
Washburn University Board of Regents
SUBJECT: Classroom Furniture
Funds have been allocated through FYO7 Capital Improvement Projects and Equipment to enhance University classrooms by replacing current tablet-arm desks with more comfortable, visually appealing and ergonomically designed chairs, desks and tables that are also ADA compliant. Beginning in the spring of 2001, a systematic plan was developed to upgrade classrooms and replace existing furniture without a loss of classroom seating. A campus-wide committee of students, faculty, and staff determined the types of furniture acceptable for each classroom situation. The furniture was competitively bid and Krueger International, Inc. was awarded the classroom furniture contract. Since then, classroom furniture has been replaced in phases. The furniture is purchased directly through Krueger International in order to maintain uniformity in classroom furniture campus wide.
Eight classrooms will have existing classroom furniture replaced with new classroom furniture for the amount of $98,745.00.
Funding is available from FY06 funding for FY07 Capital Improvement Projects and Equipment.
President Farley recommends approval to award a contract to Krueger International, Inc. for $98,745.00.
