Permission to designate Dr. James Concannon Distinguished Professor of Law
Professor Concannon has started his thirty-fifth year of teaching and service to Washburn University. Thirteen of those years he served as the Dean of the Law School. He is widely recognized as an outstanding teacher and scholar. During his career, he has participated in and served numerous professional associations. The following is a quick review of the substantial professional service he has provided just from last year includes: Commissioner from Kansas, National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws; Chair of site inspection committees for the American Bar Association; Kansas Judicial Council, Pattern Instructions for Kansas Committee; State Chair, Kansas Fellows of the American Bar Foundation; Topeka Bar Association Committee to Respond to Unjust Criticism of the Judiciary; Administrator and Executive Committee Member of the Same A. Crow American Inn of Court; and Board of Directors, Kansas Legal Services for Prisoners, Inc. Professor Concannon makes multiple annual presentations to professional associations, and he is currently engaged in writing a book on the first one hundred years of the Law School. By every measure, he unquestionably merits the title of Distinguished Professor of Law.
The award carries with it a salary supplement provided by funds of the Washburn Law Alumni Association, currently in the amount of $2,000 per year.
