Agenda Item No. V. A. 2. e.
Washburn University Board of Regents
Permission to designate Dr. Robert D. Stein Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Stein has retired after 33 years of service as a departmental Chair to Washburn University. He has been not only a very inspiring and highly productive figure within the department, he has also been an integral part of all facets of university life as well as the Topeka community. His graceful dignity and courtesy, his friendliness and generosity, and his unwavering dedication to and caring for all constituencies at Washburn are recognized and admired widely across the campus.
His accomplishments are many, but his role as founding Dean of the Honor’s Program is one of his most distinguished acts. He served as the facilitator for “High Q” and maintained a role as general editor of “The Washburn Reader: 1865-1915”, published by our Woodley Press in 1984, a book that is still in print and in use today. In addition, his service to the University includes many years on both the College and the University committees. Most of all, he was dedicated to his students and all students throughout his time at Washburn University.
President Farley recommends Dr. Robert D. Stein as Professor Emeritus.
