SUBJECT: Digital Video Playback Server System for KTWU

DESCRIPTION:

KTWU is requesting approval to purchase a digital video playback server system. The digital video playback server system will record and store for later playback, Standard Definition Television, "SDTV," and High Definition Television, "HDTV," programs for transmission over the KTWU-DT Channel 23 television transmitter.

Proposals were submitted from the following vendors who met specifications for base and options:

Alpha Video & Audio submitted the lowest and best proposal.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

Funding for the digital video playback server system will be from the following:

State of Kansas DTV Bonds, Federal Grant (Public Telecommunications Facilities Program) for DTV, and local funds from capital campaign fundraising.

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends approval to award a contract to Alpha Video & Audio for $170,414.42.
