SUBJECT: PROGRAM CHANGES IN ANTHROPOLOGY
The following change to the requirements for the major in Anthropology was approved by the Faculty Senate on October 24, 2005. The changes in the Anthropology major were made to bring the major more in line with the discipline by introducing and requiring AN 116, Physical Anthropology, so that all subfields of Anthropology are covered. Other changes were made to balance course selection and to enhance student flexibility by providing more Anthropology courses at all levels for the major and to update the terminology of class titles.
Description of Major (New):
Students majoring in Anthropology must complete a minimum of 33 hours of credit in the department. These hours must include AN 112, AN 116, AN 324 and AN 362; and one course from each of the following: SO 100 or SO 101; AN 114 or AN 303; AN 317 or AN 319 or AN 320. In addition, students majoring in Anthropology must complete 12 credit hours by completing one AN elective, two AN upper division electives, and one AN or SO upper division elective. Students must receive a grade of C or better in each course applied to the major.
Description of Major (Old):
