SUBJECT: Award of Contract for Living Learning Center, Stauffer Commons, and
Memorial Student Union Furniture and Fixtures
BACKGROUND:
On January 8, 2001, a bid document was issued for the Living Learning Center, Stauffer Commons and Memorial Student Union Furniture and Fixtures. Bid proposals will be publicly opened and tabulated at 2:00 p.m. on January 23, 2001. Since this is after the mailing date for Board of Regents agenda packets, information presented in this herein is based on estimates for the bid document issued. Final information will be presented to the Board for approval at its meeting on January 26, 2001.
DESCRIPTION:
Tabulation Sheet A identifies each bidder along with bids by package.
University staff, the project architects, and the project interior designers have analyzed the bids. Packages will be considered and selected based on cost and value added to the project.
The estimates for $922,741 are as follows:

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Budgeted funds available for furniture and fixtures are as follows:
LLC Total Remaining $404,000
Union Remodel and Stauffer Commons 500,000
Total Available $904,000
While estimates are $18,741 in excess of the budgeted funds from the financing plan, the estimates include $127,851 in alternates which can be accepted or rejected as necessary to bring the project within the budgeted amount. The contract award recommendation presented to the Board for approval will be within budgeted funds.
RECOMMENDATION:
President Farley recommends the Board of Regents approve awarding the contract for the packages selected to the lowest and best bidder.
