SUBJECT: Data Communications Equipment

DESCRIPTION:

In order to meet the data communications needs of the LLC and the two existing residence halls, it is necessary to add equipment to the campus computer network. This equipment will enable a state-of-the-art computer service to all residence hall students. Since this purchase will provide additions to the existing system, specific manufacture's (Cisco) equipment is required. The quotations reflect State contract pricing which is 6% less than pricing directly from the manufacturer.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

The total amount of the quotation is $188,861 to be divided as follows: for LLC, $161,752; for Kuehne and West, $27,109. There are sufficient funds available in the LLC project estimates for communications equipment to cover the $161,752 for LLC. The $27,109 for Kuehne and West will be paid from 09-00585.

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends that the Board approve the order to SBC Data Comm for $188,861.
