SUBJECT: Donor-based Renovation of the Washburn University School of Law Courtroom







BACKGROUND: The Washburn University School of Law is planning to equip the Robinson Courtroom with state of the art technology necessary to provide students and faculty a learning environment that reflects the current trend in electronically enhanced trials. A detailed description of the project and expected outcomes was approved by the Board at its January 26, 2001 Board meeting.







DESCRIPTION: Three separate bids were solicited for the renovation project as follows:





Technology Components:



Summit Solutions, Inc. $184,667.48



Doar 258,645.00





General Contractor:



Bob Florence $ 66,848.00



Senne & Co. 58,500.00





Electrical Contractor:



Heartland Electric $ 20,350.00



Ace Electric 24,580.00







FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:





All funding for the renovation has been pledged and will be paid at the time of award of the contracts. These funds will be transferred to the Building Construction Fund account number 09-00480.







RECOMMENDATION:





President Farley recommends contracts totaling $263,517.48 be awarded as follows: Summit Solutions Inc., in the amount of $184,667.48; Senne & Co., in the amount of $58,500.00; and Heartland Electric, in the amount of $20,350.00.
