SUBJECT: Telephone Equipment
In order to meet the telephone needs of the LLC and the two existing residence halls, it is necessary to add equipment to the campus telephone switch. Currently, residence hall students must arrange directly with Southwestern Bell to get telephone service in their rooms. By adding equipment to the telephone switch, the University will be able to provide the service in each room. This will be less expensive and more convenient for the student. Since this purchase will provide additions to the existing system, specific manufacture's (Hitachi) equipment is required. The quotation is from the company with whom the University has a service contract.
Additionally, to take advantage of favorable pricing available by ordering with the equipment for LLC, the proposal includes capacity for other campus growth.
The total amount of the proposed order is $167,187.70. Of this, $102,300.20 is for the LLC project, $7,250.00 is for Kuehne and West, and $57,637.50 is for other campus growth.
Sufficient funds are available in the LLC project estimates for communications equipment to cover the $102,300.20. The $7,250 for Kuehne and West will come from account 09-00585. The $57,637.50 for campus growth will be funded from 09-00637.
President Farley recommends that the Board approve the order to American Telephone, Inc. for $167,187.70.
