SUBJECT: Eminentes Universitatis
DESCRIPTION: Washburn University awards the "Eminentes Universitatis" designation to long-term employees who meet the following requirements: employed as an administrative or classified employee for a period of twenty years or more; retire in good standing; and service performed must be judged to have been meritorious.
The Physical Plant Director, Thomas Yang, recommends the Board bestow the designation of "Eminentes Universitatis" upon Donald E. Fry and Don L. Gordon.
Don Fry began his outstanding service to the University May 7, 1973 as a custodian. Mr. Fry was appointed to Senior Custodian in 1979 and Custodian III in 1981. He was selected as a Custodial Supervisor, Head Building Custodian in 1990. The past several years Mr. Fry has been the Head Building Custodian for Mabee Library, with responsibilities for Benton Hall, West Hall, Kuehne Hall and Carruth Hall. Mr. Fry's dedication and loyalty to this University and his outstanding professionalism merit his recommendation as Eminentes Universitatis.
Don Gordon began his outstanding service to the University on May 23, 1971. Mr. Gordon's first assignment with the Physical Plant Department was as a fireman in the boiler plant. In 1973 he became a mechanic with the department and then moved into maintenance plumbing in 1974. By 1979 he was a Senior Mechanic and Plumber. In December 1989, because of his outstanding knowledge and experience with the Washburn campus, Mr. Gordon was selected to be the Engineering Aide for the department and then the Physical Plant Supervisor responsible for the maintenance of the mechanical systems of the University. His loyalty, dedication to the University, and professionalism merit his recommendation as Eminentes Universitatis.
The Athletic Director, Loren Ferre, recommends the Board bestow the designation of "Eminentes Universitatis" upon Peg Marmet. Peg worked at Washburn for over 30 years and touched the lives of so many Washburn students. She worked tirelessly to make Washburn a better place and make sure that the students she came in contact with had a positive experience. She was and is a great ambassador for Washburn and always put the University first. She has been a pioneer in Women's Athletics.

President Farley recommends the Board of Regents approve awarding the designation "Eminentes Universitatis" to Mr. Gordon, Mr. Fry and Ms. Marmet.
