SUBJECT: College Avenue Street Improvements - Project No. P-0006

DESCRIPTION:

Bids were received on March 14,2000 for replacement of the pavement on a portion of College Avenue and all of the pavement on parking Lot #16 (Parking Lot North of Moore Bowl). This project was included as a part of the FY 99-00 Capital Improvement Budget and will replace a deteriorated section of College Avenue and replace parking lot #16 with a new design that will increase the parking by 20 cars. The bids for the project were as follows:

Contractors Base BID

Andrews Asphalt & Const. Inc. $ 409,990.00

Dinkel Construction, Inc. $ 388,565.00

Meadows Const. Co., Inc. $ 317,500.00

The low bidder (Meadows) has agreed to a change order on his bid to reduce the total project cost to $295,000.00.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

Expenditure of $254,000.00 from Capital Improvement account 03-00302 and $41,000.00 from Parking Improvements account 03-00586.

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends the Board of Regents approve the award of a contract to Meadows Construction Co., Inc. for $295,000.00 to complete the College Avenue Street Improvements Project.
