DESCRIPTION:
At the end of the 1999-2000 academic year, Rita V. Tracy will retire as Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing after 24 years of service to Washburn University.
Rita joined the Washburn faculty in August 1976 and received tenure in 1982. She has been a dedicated and caring instructor, and has served the School of Nursing through academic advising, service on School committees, and work on special projects. She has initiated innovative projects involving students, and has been involved with curriculum development. She has been a role model of professionalism and caring for faculty and students. She developed the Washburn Nursing Clinic at the Topeka Rescue Mission which, in 1988, was officially established as an ongoing voluntary School of Nursing service to the community. In 1997, she received the University Herrick Faculty Award for Outstanding Service.
The title Assistant Professor Emeritus is recommended in recognition of Rita Tracy's long and distinguished career, and for her outstanding, meritorious service to the community, the School of Nursing and Washburn University.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None
RECOMMENDATION:
President Farley recommends that the Board honor Rita V. Tracy with the title, Assistant Professor Emeritus.
