Agenda Item No. __________
Washburn University Board of Regents
SUBJECT:
Posthumous Bachelor of Business Administration Degree
DESCRIPTION:
The School of Business and its Dean recommend that the family of Ms. Amy M. Banks be honored for Ms. Banks' diligence and determination by posthumously awarding her the Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Ms. Banks began taking classes at Washburn in the summer of 1998, having transferred from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she studied, worked, and cared for her family since graduation from high school in 1985. Prior to her passing, she had completed 109.5 hours and achieved senior standing.
Ms. Banks always enjoyed learning. She sought to have a complete understanding of the subjects, so she would research the topics she did not understand. She enjoyed her professors and even after she was unable to attend classes, she asked her family members to talk to her professors about finishing her assignments.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
RECOMMENDATION:
President Farley recommends that the Board approve posthumously awarding the Bachelor of Business Administration degree to Ms. Amy M. Banks.
