Agenda Item No. _______________
Washburn University Board of Regents
SUBJECT: University Curriculum Committee
University Council to establish a University Curriculum Committee as a University Standing Committee.
Currently, individual Schools and the College have their own Curriculum Committees to review proposed curricular changes within the School or College. There is no such University Curriculum Committee; in effect, the University Council functions as such. As a result, some curricular changes may never come to the attention of the University Council; others may wind up being extensively discussed by the entire Council. A University Curriculum Committee would ensure University-level review of curricular changes, and provide the Council with carefully considered recommendations on such changes.
The establishment of this committee was approved by University Council on December 14, 2000, and by General Faculty on February 1, 2001.
President Farley recommends that the Board of Regents approve the creation of a University Curriculum Committee as a University Standing Committee of the University Council.
