SUBJECT: Award of Contract for Living Learning Center, Stauffer Commons, and
Memorial Student Union Signage and Wayfinding Package
BACKGROUND:
On March 27, 2001, a bid document was issued for the Living Learning Center, Stauffer Commons and Memorial Student Union Signage and Wayfinding Package. Among the items included in this bid package are: building directories, dedication plaque, 62 donation plaques, directional signs, individual room signs, bulletin boards, exterior building signage, signs for all union market concepts, and menu signs. Bid proposals were publicly opened and tabulated at 2:00 p.m. on April 4, 2001.
DESCRIPTION:
The bids submitted are as follows:

University staff and the project architects analyzed the bids. Packages were considered and selected based on cost and value added to the project.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Budgeted funds available for signage are as follows:
LLC $ 41,000
Union Remodel and Stauffer Commons 90,000
Total Available $131,000
A separate budget was identified in miscellaneous costs for the bulletin boards (pin up boards) to be mounted outside each residence hall room in LLC. These bulletin boards were included in the signage bid package. Therefore, the total budget available is:

Bulletin Board Estimate 11,550
Grand Total Available $142,550
The lowest and best bidder, Star Signs and Graphics, Inc., is within budgeted funds.
RECOMMENDATION:
President Farley recommends the Board of Regents approve awarding the contract for the packages selected to Star Signs and Graphics, Inc. in the amount of $142,065.
