Agenda Item No. _______________

Washburn University Board of Regents

SUBJECT: School of Law Student Activity Fee

DESCRIPTION:

Increase the law student activity fee from $20 per semester to $25 per semester, effective with academic year 2001-2002 as recommended by the Washburn Student Bar Association and Dean James Concannon.

The proposed increase would make the Law School activity fee the same as the student activity fee for undergraduate students. This fee has not been increased since 1994 and in the intervening years, there has been a proliferation of new student organizations that rely in whole or in part upon allocations by the WSBA. In addition, the fee increase will help defray the added costs of conducting the Law School's commencement at TPAC which added costs the WSBA, has agreed to finance.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

None

RECOMMENDATION:

President Farley recommends that the Board of Regents approve the increase in the School of Law student activity fee.
