SUBJECT: TELEPHONE REGISTRATION SYSTEM
In 1993 Washburn inaugurated advanced telephone registration using PC Based IBM DirectTalk Software linked directly to the Administrative AS400 computer based student enrollment system. This application has performed admirably with nearly 100% reliability. However, the system is now dated; runs on an obsolete 486 PC using OS2; and is linked to the AS400 using VAD language. The result is that the teleregistration system is no longer maintainable.
Students are comfortable with the teleregistration option, and it should be offered even after true on-line registration becomes an alternative. In addition, a number of other processes - fee payment for example, can be offered via the telephone system.
Contract with Voice Data Solutions, Inc. to install current version of IBM DirectTalk Software, convert VAD language to JAVA and purchase hardware and software necessary as detailed below:

*Services include a programmatic conversion of the existing "registration application" and is quoted as a "not to exceed estimate."
Funds are available in account 04-10101 for this project.
President Farley recommends the Board authorize the administration to award a contract to Voice Data Solutions, Inc. in the not to exceed amount of $41,900.
