SUBJECT: FACULTY/STAFF DEPENDENT TUITION WAIVER

Description:

The Washburn University Board of Regents, on June 9, 1999, approved:

1.) A 50% waiver of tuition for dependent children of full-time faculty and staff.

2.) A 25% waiver of tuition for dependent children of faculty and staff employed at least half-time, but less than full-time.

The goals for the policy included:

1.) Increased enrollment

2.) Assistance in recruitment and retention of qualified faculty and staff.

3.) Revenue enhancement

Status Report:

The tuition waiver for children of faculty and staff has produced positive results over the past two years.

1.) Enrollment:

2. Revenue:

The original proposal set a revenue neutral enrollment level at 46 students. In 2000-2001 tuition revenues derived from children of faculty and staff increased over 1998-99 as enrollment moved to 51.

3. It is apparent that the program has been well received and is viewed as a benefit to faculty and staff.

4. The goals outlined above have been met.
