SUBJECT: Law School Asbestos Abatement, Project No. P-0020

Bids were received on April 18, 2000 for a project to remove and replace the asbestos fireproofing with environmentally safe fireproofing in portions of the first and second floors of the Law School. This project was included as part of the FY 99-00 Capital Improvement Budget and is to provide a safe area above the ceilings for maintenance and construction workers. The total cost of the project is approximately $34,000 over the original estimates of $188,000. This cost overrun would be funded by the savings made from other projects that were below their estimates in the Capital Improvement Budget.
